Tricity Labs · Last updated August 2026

Cryptotricity Ltd, trading as Tricity Labs ("Tricity Labs", "we", "our", "us"), company number NI738544, incorporated under the Companies Act 2006 (5 March 2026), is the data controller for the purposes described below. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data in connection with the Tricity Labs platform and website (tricitylabs.com).

1. Data we collect

  • Contact details you provide via a pilot application, tenant registration, or contact form (name, email, organisation, phone number).
  • Environmental data from Verity sensors where deployed — temperature, humidity, and occupancy (whether a room is in use, not who is in it). No cameras, no audio, no personal behaviour data.
  • Smart meter consumption data accessed through our data partner under a read-only, consent-based agreement, and never linked to bank details.
  • Technical data, including IP addresses, collected via Google Tag Manager for analytics purposes.

2. How we use your data

  • To operate and improve the Tricity Labs platform, including generating welfare flags and building performance evidence.
  • To respond to pilot applications and tenant registrations.
  • To comply with our regulatory and data protection obligations under UK GDPR, the EU GDPR (for activity in the Republic of Ireland), and the Data Use and Access Act 2025.
  • To communicate platform updates where you have consented to marketing.

3. Smart meter and sensor data

Smart meter data is accessed through our data partner under a read-only, GDPR-compliant consent agreement. Consent is explicit, granular, and separate from general platform terms. You may withdraw consent at any time; data access ceases immediately. Sensor data (temperature, humidity, occupancy) is aggregated at property level — your housing association sees conditions, not personal behaviour.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. We share property-level conditions and welfare flags with the relevant housing association or landlord. We share anonymised, aggregated data with funders and regulators only where required for evidence submission (for example, Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund reporting) or by law.

5. Your rights

Under UK GDPR and, where applicable, the EU GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@tricitylabs.com.

6. Cookies and tracking

Tricity Labs uses Google Tag Manager for analytics. We use only strictly necessary cookies unless you have consented to analytics cookies via our cookie banner. You may withdraw cookie consent at any time via your browser settings.

7. Data retention

We retain personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law. Consent records are retained for seven years for regulatory compliance.
